American Summary of FA Cup Final

I love hearing American’s commentate on Soccer, it’s always funny. That being said Europeans normally make a meal of talking about American sports too. And on the game, very entertaining (especially for Soccer) and unfortunately the wrong team won.

    A “dandy” ball to Cisse?

Could you stomach that kind of commentary for 120 minutes plus penalties? SOOOO American!

They should stick to the NFL!

Us ex-pats over here are starved for football coverage and take what we can get. Luckily FOX Soccer Channel gives us highlights every night at 10 and many live games from the EPL, and for those who care Ligue 1 and some crap from Serie A.

While the guys on FOX sports world report are not the best, as a footie starved yank these days, beggars can’t be choosers and I’m glad to have some coverage.

BTW, on games that they show live from England (the FA Cup final was not available) we get English commentary (from SKY I presume, does Martin Tyler work for SKY now?) which makes the games more enjoyable.

Some day, I hope to be able to just sign up for SKY satellite service myself, but the new world of modern sports where “broadcast rights” are everything means that the North American territory is somewhere where they currently cannot provide their service. So much for free trade.

Mark, I know your pain, I had friends who used to have to pay $20 just to see a single rugby match on Setanta over in the US.

I don’t know if you know this but if you have DIRECTV you can get Setanta and it doesn’t seem too badly priced. Check out the details here - http://www.setanta.com/usa - the schedule seems pretty good too. I’d imagine they just rebroadcast the UK/Local commentary too.

I subscribe to NASN so I can get my fill of American Sports on this side of the Atlantic.

I went looking for a copy of the FA Cup Final with the Martin Tyler commentary and ended up here because of one of the replies. Anyway, this isn’t even an American show; it’s from Vancouver, BC, Canada. American commentary is MUCH, MUCH worse.

Martin Tyler does work for Skysports but he also does the commentary for the telecast we get in North America of the FA Cup is the International Feed for all countries Except UK. Their broadcaster in UK is BBC with the legendary Jon Mottson as their commentator.
