Two Years Of Gmail

I’ve just remembered that April 1st marks 2 years of Gmail. I got my account pretty early on thanks to the fine folks over at Metafilter, but of course Gmail is still in `beta’ which is just insane! Last year we got a present of an extra Gigabyte of storage which was great! I wonder will we get anything on this anniversary, or maybe it’ll drop out of `beta’?

Of course the other thing I should mention is that Gmail is still fantastic. It’s the only webmail I’ve ever used and I love it. It allows me use my real addresses too (i.e. @davidoneill.net).

Thanks Google, it’s one of the few services (besides search) that you’ve done right!

gmail beta gives them license to pull the pull and say “ah yeah, it just wasn’t working out…”

like thats ever going to happen! still though, likely the best free webmail service i’ve used and I’ve been through too many of them over the last 10 years or so, bless em.
