Irish Times Gets Something Right

Recently I criticised the Irish Times for a number of things but this time I’m here to praise them, well kinda. As you may know the Irish Times charges for the vast majority of the content on it’s website. The charges are quite high so I’ve naturally not paid them before*. Today there was an article that I wanted to have a copy of and blog about (later) so I went to the website and noticed that while this was pay for content you are now able to get a 24 Hour Subscription for €2. The way the system works is you text a word to a premium rate SMS number and you get a login code back.

The system works pretty well, but my only complaint is that the charge is still too high. Of course I’d rather if all the content was free but at least it’s a bit more affordable now.

Oh yeah if anyone needs a login for the next 15 or so hours you can use S8XJX-83XYX

* We actually had a subscription in U.C.C.
