Never Knowing when to shut up!
Last December I finally gave up on my old email addresses and started to forward all my mail to Gmail, well I actually run them through Spam Assassin first on my server and then to Gmail but you get the picture.
So the only downside to this is that mail I sent was shown as coming from gmail.com instead of davidoneill.net like I’d prefer. Matt mentioned way back that being able to show the mail coming from his own domain would be great and it looks like you can now finally do that. It’s pretty awesome you can now make the fact you’re using Gmail pretty transparent to people which is the complete opposite to what the other web mail providers make you do. Usually not alone are you stuck with the address but you also have a little thing added to the bottom of your messages saying you’re using Yahoo!/MSN/Whatever, this is just the opposite.
Just to show you how easy it is I’ll show you what I had to do. First you just go to Settings > Accounts and click add new account and you are presented with the following screen.

So you just enter your details there.

Now to stop you stealing other’s addresses you must verify things.

All going well you enter your code and then you’re good to go. So I’ve now set my davidoneill.net as my default address.
