I’ve now had close to a week to think about this one. Eddie O’Sullivan has to go. Now it doesn’t look like he will but his boring conservative style of play and selection has cost Ireland so much. Not just this season but the past few seasons. It shocks me that the media can’t see through it and believe the crap he spouts about it being just an issue of Ireland having to deal with injuries and things.


Eddie started to let us down in the World Cup when France steamrolled over us. Then he decided to let the same thing happen in Paris in the Six Nations when we came back. We can excuse those just about because France were phenomenal but this year the selection decisions have been unforgivable.


The Six Nations started with a decent selection, but soon we started to have injuries, and more importantly, the out-half started to have a nightmare. Did Eddie bite the bullet and substitute him, no. Following that we went to Scotland and won comfortably, but why that was ever an issue is beyond me. Beating Scotland should always have been a forgone conclusion. The think Eddie didn’t seem to notice from the Scotland match was just how bad some of the players were. Reggie Corrigan was exceptionally poor. Was there any chance the man would get dropped… no.

The signs remained throughout the English game but coming into the French game Eddie O’Sullivan stayed with the same team and worse when the French game wasn’t going well he stayed with the same team. Then having lost to France Eddie didn’t make a single change for the Welsh game, that was unforgivable. We lost to Wales because we played a terrible conservative game plan. In the pub I was in people clapped for the second Welsh try because they were playing rugby and we weren’t. When the subsitutions were finally made they had an effect but it was too late. Eddie had shown that his selection was wrong, but has anyone in the press looked for him to go…no.
