Never Knowing when to shut up!
Sorry for those people who read here and will have no idea what I’m talking about but this guy is getting on my nerves so much! He’s not brilliant, sure he can kick long kicks but that’s about it. What’s good however is how the press (well the Irish press at least) are catching on to what an overhyped arrogant player Henson is.
Yesterday in the Examiner Henson was slated by the always brilliant Hugh Farelly, and in today’s Sunday Times we learn that poor Gavin doesn’t like his wrists!
You know about the hair gel, the fake tan, the leg-shaving and the silver boots. Seeing as Gavin Henson is already being tipped to pip Gordon D�Arcy to the Lions No 12 shirt, Irish rugby supporters might want to be given the lowdown on another of the Welshman�s foibles. Unlike just about every other modern player, our Gavin doesn�t favour short-sleeved rugby shirts. And why? Because he doesn�t like his own wrists. And if our Gavin doesn� t like his wrists, he shouldn’t have to look at them, should he? That�s why he wears a long-sleeved under-garment.
My all time favourite quote attributed to Henson: Afterwards, when Welsh captain Gareth Thomas implored his men to quell their elation and focus on this weekend’s game, Henson is said to have responded, “I can’t skipper, my people will expect to see me on the town tonight”.
So roll on the Wales V Ireland match, Gordon D’Arcy can show exactly why Henson is so overrated. Henson is a pretender for the Lions No. 13 Jersey.

You are taking Gavin (and yourself) far too seriously. He is a wind-up merchant and his comments are tongue in cheek. Talking yourself up and winding up the opposition are all part and parcel of the psychology of playing rugby. Gavin is fanstastic, watch him leather the French.
I think that Gavin Henson is the best so what if he doesn’t like his own wrists i don’t like my own wrists. I think its about time there is someone good looking on the rugby pitch.
I’m just afraid that Henson is going to ruin the Lions chances in June. I’ve seen him throw away two matches for the Ospreys against Munster and seen him make countless wrong decision for Wales.
I really hope I’m wrong and that he does play better but running cross-field and cutting out the overlap is not the way to play Rugby. Shane Williams shows Henson what natural rugby talent is every game.
I think Gavin Henson is one of the best players on the team. Steve Hanson told him that he was a ‘kid’ and wasn’t mature enough to be a international. And now look at him! He has worked his way up to become a successful rugby player, who have still got years to come. He attracts a lot of fans and is a influence to many people. He wants to show people what he can do. And he will give Welsh rugby the boost it needs!

Gavin is a precocious talent and like all gifted sport people he will undoubtedly make mistakes. This is mainly due to the fact that he’s pushing the envelope and creating something new. The fact is, rugby is a 22 man game and it takes a whole team to loose a game but one man can win a game (see Neil Jenkins’ games for Wales over the past decade). The best is yet to come from Gavin on the international stage - i just hope the rest of the squad keep his feet on the ground (which i’m sure they’ll do). Mike Ruddock won’t let Gavin believe that he’s bigger than the team.

Gavin Henson is a great talent. Anything he does say will be blown way out of proportion because so much of it is tonge and cheek! he is a bright lad with his feet planted firmly on the ground. As for saying he is overrated that is utter nonesense! And he will be pushing Gordon D’Arcy for the no12 shirt in New Zealand. As Clive Woodward has already booked Gavin and Gordon’s ticket’s to board the plane in june! Lol
I stand by what I said after the England match, Henson is the most over-rated Welsh player in the 6N. Martyn Williams, Shane Williams, Steven Jones and Dwayne Peel have all been far more pivotal to the Welsh sucesses than Henson.
Henson was poor against France, easily Wales’ poorest backline player. He continued his trick of lateral running instead of running good lines. He was also at fault for one of the Welsh tries and considering he was also at fault for one of the tries against Italy it’s safe to say that besides an excellent kick against England he’s not done much else all tournament.
Wales would do just as well with Sonny Parker and Kevin Morgan in the centres.
i think it’s pathetic that one minute everyone is willing to back henson beacause he won us that all important game against the english, but as soon as he has an ordinary game, everyone is willing to write him off again. It is true that the Welsh media over hype everything to do with rugby, but still we all know that he has the talent, and he doesnt have to win us every game in order to appear as a good player. Henson will start with the lions, and will be one of the worlds best attacking players for yers to come you mark my words.

I stand by and say that Gavin Henson is the best. Just because he made some mistakes doesnt mean that you can slate him off. Everyone makes mistakes even his own team mates. It doesnt put me off the fact that he shaves his legs and has a perma-tan, its his life.

All the do is kick the ball, it’s so dull. You then have O’Gara who is always acting super hard when he lay on the floor and let a man punch his face in like a little girl for the lions team.

Actually Shane I don’t like Brian O’Driscoll but as a rugby player he’s a class act. As I’ve said before Wales do play exciting rugby but I just don’t think Henson is nearly as good as he’d made out to be. In the Welsh back-line I’d take Gareth Thomas, Shane Williams, Stephen Jones, Gareth Cooper and Dwayne Peel on the Lions Tour ahead of Henson.
i still stand by what i said earlier that gavin henson is a tremendous talent. yes he has had a couple of poor games, while carrying an injury! he has hamstring problems. but look at brian o’driscoll last six nations he was poor in all the games! david beckham as well only gets in the england team on his celebrity profile. shaun wright phillips should be starting, but eriksson doesn’t pick him. henson is a certain for the lions!

CHARLOTTE Church seemed blissfully unaware of the trouble over her new boyfriend Gavin Henson’s Grand Slam celebrations as she bought fish and chips for lunch yesterday.
Welsh rugby hero Gavin, 23, had allegedly shouted f*****g p***ks at bouncers as he left a pub where his triumphant team were treated to free drinks after their 32-20 win over Ireland.
Police passing by on Sunday night spoke to him and gave him a lift home in their van.
Charlotte, 19, turned up at the Yard Bar and Kitchen, metres from the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, 10 minutes later but was told he had left.
An onlooker said: “All the players were enjoying a party upstairs and no one else was allowed up there.
“But they were playing drinking games and downing pints and you could hear a lot of noise.
“Then a glass smashed on the stairs and showered fans in the downstairs bar. People were quite frightened.”
Bouncers apparently spoke to Gavin, 23, while team mate Brent Cockbain calmed him down. The eyewitness said: “Cockbain came down and apologised and took a Welsh flag upstairs for all the players to sign which made the fans happy again.
“One of the barmaids said the Welsh players were taking the mickey out of Henson. Then we saw two rugby players and a bouncer with Gavin at the front door.
“It looked like Gavin was having a row with the bouncer. The rugby players looked embarrassed. Gavin looked really drunk - he was swaying, his arms were flailing and his face was contorted in rage.
“It didn’t look like his team mates were sticking up for him at all.
“My sons are nine and 10 and they idolise Henson, but it’s not a very good example for a Welsh hero to be setting.”
The witness added: “Police arrived and gave him a lift in their van.
“Charlotte arrived at the pub about 10 minutes later - she spoke to the bouncers, went upstairs and then left immediately.”
Police said last night Gavin had not been arrested after the incident, which happened at about 9.30pm on Sunday.
Henson’s agent Peter Underhill said last night: “What rugby players do never surprises me but I have no comment to make at all.”
He later added: “Gavin and a number of his colleagues had an enjoyable evening out celebrating Wales’ well deserved win.”
The Yard boss Nick Newman said: “Everyone had a good time then the players went on their merry way.”
I’d just like to respond by saying HA HA HA! Henson has proved to be brilliant in every one of the 5 matches (especially the England game). Don’t you wish you’d never made the comment about roll on the Ireland v Wales? Just to remind you - 32-20 TO WALES.

Henson plays at inside centre (No.12) not outside centre (No.13) as you suggested. So no, Henson is not a pretender for the Lions No. 13 jersey, which will of course be filled by Brian O’Driscoll. But he must now be the number 1 contender for the Lions No.12 shirt. There is no doubting tht D’arcy is a great player but can he tackle or kick aswell as Henson, i think not! As for him being arrogant, why not? He can back it up with the goods and proved himself against Ireland, although special praise should go to Tom Shanklin for nullifying the threat of O’Driscoll. As far as we in Wales are concerned, Gavin can shave his legs as much as he wants, so long as he helps to keep those trophies coming. Wales for the World Cup 2007!!!!
Ospreygal, in a full Irish team with no injuries Brian O’Driscoll plays at No. 12 which is where Henson wishes to play. Actually you mentioned Shanklin who in the absense of D’Arcy I’d love to see play in the centre with O’Driscoll as I rate him far higher than Henson.
Hey have you guys heard about the picture of Charlotte church toppless and some of her steamy texts flying about south wales. She sent Gavin a pic of her and he showed his mates but his phone was lost/nicked and some1 picked it up and sent it to his mates then theyt sent to their freinds ect. You know what im getting at. Actually, I will say that I work with Mr Henson on a rather regular basis, and he is extremely arrogant. Fairplay, he’s a good player, but theres no need2be the way he is. Shane on the other hand is an excellent player and an very polite young fella. Just a shame Henson hasnt picked up any of his charm. We love you shane x x x

Gavin Henson = The Welsh Golden Boy. For my whole life I have seen Wales be stamped on, ruin their chances, lose all that they’ve hoped for. Finally, Mike Ruddock has given the team confidence in themselves, and Gavin has come up from the Ospreys. He shone in the Wales v England Match, but he was shut down by his opponents in the other matches in the 6 Nations, as is Jason Robinson (Fullback:England). Personally, I think Gavin is one of the most phenomenal players we have had since the seventies. Him, along with Martyn Williams, Shane Williams, Tom Shanklin and the rest of the team (I would love to name them, but it would just take too long), played out of their skins throughout the 6 Nations. Gavin did what every Number 12 should do: Tackled like fury, Kicked like there was no tomorrow and legged it up the pitch. He set up some of the best tries in the 6 Nations, He has done the best tackles i’ve seen since Jonah Lomu, and he can run faster than your Gordon D’arcy. Personally, if D’arcy can do what Henson can, then I think he has every right to play for the 12 shirt in the Lions. But seeing as I haven’t seen D’arcy do much, i’m still running on what I have said in defence of Henson: “He can take a penalty at 52m and clear it, he can carry pure English muscle back 5 yards, and he can play his position to his heart’s content. Leave him be.”
