Dave’s Rants

Well while I was in America I took full advantage of the cheaper prices on electronics and I bought among other things a new hard drive and RAM. So last Wednesday I decided to pop the RAM and the Disk into the machine in what should be a trivial procedure, instead I’m just about picking up the pieces now!

I think it was the RAM that made the PC crash but whatever happened it ended up corrupting the hard disk that was currently residing in the machine. So I had to install XP again on the newest HDD and then I spent a day and a half trying to pull data off the old hard disk. I used GetDataBack for NTFS which did a great job with me getting 99% of what I wanted back from the messed up HDD. Unfortunately one of the files that got messed up was the Inbox folder from Mozilla Mail which I had just filled with all the mail that accumulated during my trip to America! Oh well! So I’ll have to email all the people I met just in case any of them sent me anything. Anyway I wanted to move to a new email address system so now’s probably the time.
