I’ve asked already, Where are the Weapons?

All during Blair and Bush’s push to get us to accept war on Iraq they beat us with the idea that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and that these posed a clear and present danger to the security of the Western World. Now I never chose to believe that the man had an active Nuclear program and even doubted the strength of his bio and chemical weapons programs. I chose to choose fromer US Marine and head UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter when he said.

No one has substantiated the allegations that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction or is attempting to acquire weapons of mass destruction. And of course that is the reason we have been given for going to war against Iraq — because of the threat posed by these weapons. It has been nothing but rhetorically laced speculation, not hard facts, that have been presented by either the United States or Great Britain to back this up, and until they provide hard facts, there is no case for war.

And now of course it looks like he was right.

It’s been months now since the fall of Iraq and even longer since the beginning. I thought they’d have found something by now, well I knew it probably wouldn’t be enough to convice me for the need for war but at the very least I would have expected something, but now it looks like I’m not going to see that at all.

This Salon article basically covers some of the trouble America is causing it’s allies with regard to the WMD question. Because the scary number of American’s who think they’ve already found them, and those who don’t care, a climate condusive to the American’s telling us it was all a con has developed. Two of the leading light in the Bush administration have said as much.

Rumsfeld during the week said

It is also possible that they [the Iraqis] decided that they would destroy them [weapons of mass destruction] prior to a conflict

So basically the war was for other reasons like most right minded people suspected, this was confirmed in this shocking statement by Paul Wolfowitz who in an upcoming interview states

for bureaucratic reasons; we settled on one issue — weapons of mass destruction — because it was the one reason everyone could agree on.”

Absolutely unreal, I actually can’t believe they have managed to dupe half the world. All I hope is that next time the few allies that were there on this issue ask for more proof than Colin Powell was able to give.

Of course Tony is still claiming he knows where the weapons are, but to be honest I don’t believe him because if there was even the slightest shred of evidence we’d be sick and tired of the yanks shoving it in our faces!
